DESCRIPTION:The Democratic Women’s Book Club will meet Tuesday\, November 18 at 7:00 p.m. in the Cleveland County Democratic Party Headquarters\, 106 W Marion Street\, Shelby. \n\n\n\nWe will discuss Jesus and John Wayne: How White Evangelicals Corrupted a Faith and Fractured a Nation by Kristen Kobes Du Mez. \n\n\n\nDonald Trump\, the right\, the church\, and “militant masculinity” all rolled into one book! \n\n\n\nJoin us as we read this fascinating book that Publishers Weekly called ” a lucid\, potent history that adds a much needed religious dimension to understanding the American right and the rise of Trump.” \n\n\n\nSeveral of our members have recommended this as a very enlightening read. Our facilitator for the evening will be DeAnna Brooks from Clover\, South Carolina\, a new member of our group who read the book and graciously agreed to share her thoughts with us. \n\n\n\nSince the book was published in 2020\, it is now available in paperback. Used copies should be available as well as library copies.
